As Warren Buffet said investing in yourself is the best investment you can make. Only you can determine your quality of life, mental health, well-being, and personal growth.
To build the life you want on your terms you will need to invest in yourself as a woman. It can have amazing results on the quality of your life. It helps encourage personal growth, well-being, and mental health. It doesn’t have to cost tons of money, and it’s just about making yourself a priority in your life.
Here are some ways to invest in yourself as a woman to get you started.
Set Yourself Some Goals
Setting goals is the number one way that you can invest in yourself. Goals give you to something to work towards and can help you build the life that you want.
Goals can be for anything you want; buying a new car or going on that dream vacation, saving an emergency fund, taking a course, or learning a new skill.
Basically, anything that you want to achieve in life can be turned into goals to motivate you and keep you focused. It will take your dreams and wants out of the back of your mind and into actionable steps for you to work towards.
So, today think of a goal that you’d like to achieve, write it down, and start breaking down the steps you’ll need to take to achieve it.
Try New Things Regularly
Expand your mind, and open yourself to new experiences by trying new things. Make a promise to yourself that once a month, or more frequently if it works for you, you will try new things.
This could be anything like a food or drink you’ve never tasted before, a local place you’ve never been to, an activity you’ve never done before, or maybe just a different way of doing something that you always do.
Travel The World & Have Experiences
One of my favorite ways to invest in myself is to travel. There are so many benefits to traveling especially to your mental and emotional health. Travel allows you to experience new places, cultures, religions, and people.
There are so many beautiful things to experience in this world, and it really does enrich our lives in many unique ways that are frankly priceless.
Traveling opens your eyes and mind to countless things that you would just never experience if you stayed in one place all your life. It will also give you a healthy escape from your daily life and environment.
So whenever possible, go somewhere new that you have never been before. Be open-minded, explore destinations with an adventurous spirit, try new things, visit museums, galleries, and attractions, talk to locals, listen to their stories, and try local foods.
Create Multiple Sources Of Income
For financial security, and to just make more money, having multiple sources of income is a smart way to invest in yourself.
There are so many different ways that you can generate income and countless side hustles you can try till you find what works for you. Just remember that some things will take longer to generate income than others.
You never know what tomorrow will bring, and it’s never too late to start something new so donโt wait to create multiple money streams for yourself. The sooner you get started the sooner you’ll have more money in the bank.
Also, prioritize building an abundance mindset, and include positive money affirmations in your
Take Courses To Grow Your Knowledge & Skills
I’m a life-long learner so one of my go-to ways to invest in myself has always been self-education. There is a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips, and you can basically take a digital or in-person course for pretty much anything these days.
No matter your age there are always new things that you can learn and skills you can build if you are willing to put time and energy into yourself.
So try to dedicate some time every week to broadening your knowledge. And if there is a course, conference, or event that interests you go for it. Your future self will thank you for it.
Books, Podcasts & Blog Posts
There is a wealth of free information and education available by listening to podcasts, watching YouTube Videos, and reading blog posts (like this one!). You will find that you can learn about pretty much anything and build any skills you choose online. If you are OK with taking longer to learn something new then it’s possible to master anything through free resources.
Not to mention the vast array of books out there on virtually any topic. You could learn a lot in a year by just carving out a little time every week to learn in place of Netflix.
Practice Regular Self Care
Regular self-care is vital to your well-being. It isn’t always easy to incorporate into your daily routine especially if you are always busy but there are lots of easy ways to take better care of yourself.
Also, remember that your mental and emotional health is just as important as your physical health so please listen to yourself and slow down when you are struggling.
Unplug & Make Time For Yourself
Working hard, and dedicating time to your career, your personal growth, your daily life, and your relationships are all great but if you don’t take regular breaks you may find that you burn out.
I’ve experienced burnout on multiple occasions and it’s awful – it’s also easily avoided if you take the time for a little self-care on a regular basis. Just unplugging for a few minutes a day could make all the difference.
But I’d encourage you to completely unplug from all of your devices and social media at least once a week especially if you struggle with any mental health challenges like depression or anxiety. It’s pretty incredible how impactful and beneficial it is, and it’s now something that I do on a very regular basis.
Surround Yourself With Positive People
Surrounding yourself with positive people who support, motivate, and inspire you is a great way to invest in yourself. Put time into people who can learn from as well as have fun with.
This also means removing people and relationships that do not make you happy. Rather than staying stuck in an unhealthy or toxic relationship full of fighting, unhappiness, drama or that just isn’t the right one if you are brutally honest, take steps to leave. Or if you have one-sided friendships, it’s okay to say goodbye to that person.
What matters is that the people around you bring you joy, not pain. You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with after all.
Prioritize Yourself & Your Growth
I hope these 9 ways will inspire you to invest in yourself and your growth more! Showing yourself self-love, self-care, and self-investment will help you lead a happier more fulfilled life. Your future self will thank you for everything you do for yourself right now.
